We know many of you will come with a smartphone, but will need to buy a new sim card and set up a phone plan. Some phone companies will allow you to use your international phones; others require that you buy a U.S. phone and plan. Most companies allow students to go in together to get one account with multiple lines. This usually saves quite a bit of money if you are willing to do this. But because most international students will not have a U.S. Social Security Number when you arrive, you will be required to do a month-to-month plan and pay out right for any new phones purchased (rather than have a financed option).
