There are many ways to volunteer to help new UTD international students with The Big Howdy
Local volunteers are the heartbeat of the Big Howdy at UTD — whether it’s picking up international students from the DFW/Love Field Airport, giving away/moving used items, serving food at the Big Howdy welcome party, or any other numerous opportunities to serve.
We each have unique gifts and abilities in which we can serve our international friends. If you would like to serve our new international students from different countries, we would love for you to join one of our volunteer opportunities!

YOU MAY HELP WITH...
Airport Pickup
A great way to serve is to meet them when they first come into the country! Imagine coming to a country that you are unfamiliar with, where you have no friends or family.
You are the first point of contact for them to Texas, and we want them to feel welcome. Pick them up from Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) or Love Field Airport and bring them to their apartment at UTD.
Big Howdy Welcome Party
A fun party for international students to start off the semester and a great opportunity to get to know the students!
We have lots of needs at the party including making and serving food, as well as just hanging out with the students and dancing with them!
Furniture Giveaway
This is an opportunity for students to get used furniture and household items. Donate your gently used kitchen items and furniture to the Used Item Giveaway.
We also need people to help at the giveaway load, organize and deliver their items to their apartments.
